December 2007: Bancroft's Singers at the Bank of England |
| |
| The Bancroft’s
singers made their annual trip to the Bank of England on Friday
7th December. They gave two concerts of Christmas music to capacity
audiences made up of a variety of seasonal music ranging from
‘the Holly and the Ivy’ to ‘White Christmas’.
An excellent anthology on Christmas had been put together by
Susannah Milburn, and was read by Susannah, Fran, Michael and
Adam. For over half the group, this was their first ‘Singers’
outing. The general agreement on the way home was that although
a lot of hard work had to be put in, the event had been fun. |

| |
| The Bancroft's Singers celebrated
25 years of existence with a supper concert in February. Many
former members attended and some had been founder members. Former
conducters John Dunston and John Pearce attended and recounted
memories of their time with the Singers. A scratch choir was
formed to sing some old favourite songs. Individual items were
performed by Carl Murray (vocal), accompanied by Martyn Heald
and Tim End (piano). A hot supper was provided by David Benson
and a special celebration cake was cut suring the evening. At
the end of the event many wanted to know when the next reunion
would take place and requested that it be on a warmer evening. |
