Headstart Courses for 2009

Headstart is a well-established education programme whose aim is to encourage students interested in mathematics or science to consider technology-based careers.It provides an opportunity for those in Year 12/S5 to spend up to a week at university prior to making their UCAS application.

16/17 years of age in Year 12 interested in mathematics or science and planning to go to university ...you could be eligible!

The Bulkeley-Evans HMC Scholarship Fund

The Bulkeley-Evans HMC Scholarship Awards provide scholarships of from £300-£500 to support students undertaking Gap Year projects. More details about the fund, descriptions of some of the projects undertaken by previous award winners and an application form are available on the Bulkeley-Evans Award website: http://www.gapyear-bulkeley-evans-hmc.co.uk/

This Fund is only open to students attending HMC Schools so do not miss the opportunity! Ideally, applications for 2009-2010 should be submitted by 1st April 2009.

The Engineering Development Trust offers Year in Industry Gap Year Placements available in all UK regions. If you are considering a GAP year and wish to gain valuable experience whilst receiving a salary do think about a Year in Industry now! Work Experience

Joe Michaels, who spoke about solar energy at the Global Warming Conference, may be able to offer work experience to anyone interested in solar power. His company is in Dalston. See Mr Flaherty for more details.
